GOLDEN GORDON ?

Eagle eyed consumers may have picked up on a subtle change to the packaging of John Martin’s Gordon Scottish range of beers. These ales have always had a long historical link with the Belgians, dating back, it is claimed, to the First World War, with the country’s love of strong flavoursome ales. But, due to all the changes taking place in the brewery industry, a subtle alteration to the wording on the label has appeared. The beers have always been brewed in Scotland (but ironically never available for general sale there) but are now made in the more vague sounding tri-party state of “ Benelux ”. No doubt the beers will be brewed as closely as possible to the original Scottish Courage recipes, but the proof – as they say – will be in the tasting!

AUTUMN RELEASES

The new autumn list is taking shape, and will be released to our postal customers toward the end of August and beginning of September. Whilst new lines are added to our web site for our internet customers as soon as possible, we are waiting for one or two interesting additions, one of which is a full-strength English traditional IPA. All will be revealed soon………….

LIGHTS OUT FOR PORTER

South Hams Devon Porter bottles have developed a small and loyal band of followers in our shop in recent months – but they are about to be disappointed! We are told that stocks have run out! The brewery has now turned its attentions to bottling its Devon Pride at 3.8% Alc/vol. We are expecting stocks to arrive within the next two weeks and we will hopefully see a return of the Devon Porter sometime when………………
