EDWIN TUCKER’S EMPRESS RUSSIAN PORTER – 2006 VINTAGE

NORMAL RETAIL PRICE £2.19… INTERNET OFFER PRICE £1.99!

We are pleased to announce that our new vintage of Empress Russian Porter – 2006 has been bottled and is now available. We first introduced ERP back in 1998 and vintages have been produced regularly ever since, with the last being in 2003. The beer is a great favourite with both drinkers and collectors alike with its intense full flavour of dark malt giving subtle coffee and liquorice overtones to the beer. As with previous releases the label has slight alterations which will appeal to the collector.

By way of a celebration to introduce the new brew we are offering the beer at a special internet offer price of £1.99.

RED ROCK - READY TO ROLL

We mentioned in last month’s newsletter that the The Red Rock Brewery has just opened its doors just down the road from us in Bishopsteignton. Their two new bottled beers, Red Rock Ale at 4.2%Alc/Vol and Back Beach at 3.8%Alc/Vol are now available.

THE LITHUANIANS HAVE LANDED!

A new shipment of Lithuanian beers has just arrived and as usual their quality is excellent. They differ from the German and Czech lager styles in that they have a softer hop character on the palate, which gives the beers a rounder maltier body that you might normally expect from a European lager. The stronger caramel accented Baltijos, and deep flavoured toffee over toned Porter have a loyal following.

All the best before dates on the Lithuanian beers are set at domestic rather than export dates and drink well beyond those stated.

ALMOST BROWN AND OUT

It was not so long ago that the only readily available beer from the highly regarded Sierra Nevada Brewery you could find on retailers shelves was their famous Pale Ale. Thankfully several others such as the Porter, Stout, Wheat Beer and the Celebration Ale have followed, with small quantities of Bigfoot finding an appreciative drinking public. We hope very soon to be able to add their Brown Ale to this list which has found its way to the UK for the first time. We will only have a small quantity available so please look out for its arrival on the web site.

LION ROARS ONCE MORE!

A few months ago it looked very unlikely we would be able to stock Lion from Sri Lanka again once the original wholesaler had stopped importing the beer. Thankfully a new wholesaler has been found and the rather ambiguous ‘Dark Beer’ description on the label dropped in favour of its true name ‘Lion Stout’. It is a true tropical stout with warming coffeeish overtones and a delicious flavour.
